Honoring Dr. Michael C. Pignato (1952-2025)
With heavy hearts, we remember Dr. Michael “Mike” Carmen Pignato, DDS, a cherished dentist, father, and friend to so many in the Rochester community. Dr. Pignato passed away suddenly on May 22, 2025, at his home in Penfield, NY. He was 72 years old.
Born December 3, 1952, Mike graduated from McQuaid High School in 1970, attended Niagara University and St. John’s Pharmacy School, and earned his dental degree from NYU School of Dentistry in 1978. He practiced for over four decades, and his career was distinguished not only by technical skill but also by compassion and a commitment to care.
A Calling Greater Than Dentistry
To his patients, Dr. Pignato was more than a dentist—he was a trusted advisor, a comforting presence, and a lifelong friend. But his work didn’t stop in the operatory.
Mike carried his talents across the globe through dental mission trips to St. Lucia, Nicaragua, and Tennessee, where he provided vital care to underserved populations. These trips were driven by his belief that dentistry could transform lives. His compassion transcended borders, and his kindness left lasting impressions on every person he treated.
Grounded in Community
At home in Rochester, Mike’s generosity was just as profound. He often donated his services at local race tracks, treating staff members who otherwise might have lacked access to care. As a longtime parishioner of St. Joseph’s Church in Penfield, he was deeply involved in faith-based outreach—assembling care packages for overseas troops, providing dental care to those in need, and serving his neighbors without recognition or reward.
He was a proud supporter of local organizations like Penfield Hope, Rochester Hope, and School 50, as well as many housing and classroom initiatives. Mike believed in uplifting others and offered his time, expertise, and financial support freely and quietly—never seeking attention, always seeking impact.
Family, Faith, and Legacy
Mike’s greatest pride was his family. He is survived by his beloved wife Diane (married since 1979), daughter Alyssa, and granddaughters Natalie and Corinne. He lived his life with humility, warmth, and purpose, always guided by his Catholic faith and the belief that service to others was life’s highest calling.
